CHALLENGE
New product launches are among the most important events in the marketing strategy of global brands. It is during these events that the initial perception of the product is formed, the brand image is strengthened, and experiences are created that are meant to remain in the participants’ memories long after the event has ended.
On November 10, 2023, an event marking the launch of the innovative Ploom X tobacco heating device took place at Hala Koszyki in Warsaw. The venue’s industrial architecture provided a unique backdrop for the presentation of this modern technology, but the organizers were looking for solutions that would highlight the product’s futuristic character and distinguish the brand in a way consistent with its innovative image.
The key challenge was to create eye-catching set elements and interactive experiences that would capture participants’ attention, encourage them to actively participate in the event, and naturally promote the new product.
SOLUTION
A comprehensive holographic installation based on LEDHOLO solutions was set up for the event. Holographic displays were used throughout the event space to show specially designed 3D animations of the Ploom X device and content related to the brand’s visual identity.
However, the centerpiece of the project was the LEDHOLO Totem 200HX display, equipped with the LEDHOLO Motion Capture (LMC) system. A dedicated human-hologram interaction was developed specifically for the event, allowing participants to engage directly with the technology on display.
When no participant was in front of the device, the hologram displayed a dynamic 3D animation of the product. Once the Motion Capture system detected a person, an interactive visualization that responded to the user’s movements was triggered. A virtual character or object mimicked the participant’s behavior, encouraging them to perform various gestures and activities, which led to spontaneous play and increased visitor engagement.
The combination of a holographic product presentation and interactive motion capture technology made it possible to create a modern and engaging experience zone that perfectly complemented the nature of the launch of this innovative product.
RESULT
LEDHOLO technology perfectly complemented the atmosphere of the event and Ploom’s communication strategy. Holographic product presentations captured attendees’ attention and effectively highlighted the product’s modern character, while the interactive Motion Capture zone became one of the most popular attractions of the evening.
Participants actively took advantage of the opportunity to interact with the hologram, which resulted in longer engagement with the brand and a more immersive experience than with traditional forms of product presentation. The futuristic visual design effectively reinforced the message of innovation and modernity associated with the Ploom X device.
An additional benefit was the large number of posts shared by participants on social media. Photos and videos showing interactions with the holograms were widely shared, generating additional reach and increasing awareness of both the event and the brand.
The project for JTI confirmed that holographic technology can effectively support product launches by combining set design, branding, and entertainment elements. Thanks to carefully designed 3D content and interactive motion capture solutions, it is possible to create events that not only showcase the product but, above all, evoke emotions, engage the audience, and remain in their memories long after the event has ended.
